Hi! I’m Hannah Givens. I read about 300 books a year, from nonfiction to picture books and everything in between.

I love sci-fi, fantasy, comics, popular science, history, and anything queer. I post topical essays, in-depth book reviews, and other book-related things, along with the occasional movie review or chatty update. This blog has had several names in the years I’ve been running it, but I always come back to books: Recommending good ones and talking about what they mean.

In offline life, I work in a library in the Deep South. I recently finished an MA in history, focusing on museum studies and queer literary history.

Publication schedule is irregular while I’m in graduate school, but I shoot for twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Guest posts and review requests accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Pronouns: she/her, or they/them is fine too.

This blog was known for several years as Things Matter, and all the original posts are available on the Things Matter archive. It was then briefly known as the New Emma Jones Society before becoming Hannah Reads Books in December 2016.
